We are very distracted with our goals by Social Media Notifications like Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Then here are the techniques to get off from distractions.

Topper and Failure

We have a mindset from childhood that the Toppers of the schools and colleges are the boy who studied for long-long hours but instead of studying long, toppers use these five techniques.

1.    ODYSSEUS  METHOD

Odysseus was a great warrior or King of his time who fought long wars, after fight he went for his home with his soldiers from the sea way, he listened that in the way of sea there is a island from which the sound Havens comes and when someone go there, they would in the trap and killed. Odysseus know this already then he have ideas about how to control that situation. He said to close ears to all his soldiers, and he wanted to listen that sound for this he said his soldiers to bind him in the edge of the sea, and whenever he cried the soldiers have nothing to do, they passed that situation and this technique came to be known as Odysseus Techique.

How to use Odysseus Technique in Practical life?

Our attention span become less in our day to day life because we are suffering from distractions because we have many distractors like Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. In this situation the Odysseus technique is very useful for you.

Set your goal and bind yourself with that goal just like Odysseus do, and work until it is not completed.

Example: Ram set a goal to study Newton law until it is not completed, and then he binded himself with this goal by turning off his phone, and closing his home door. After completing this concept he turn on his phone and do other thing whatever he wants to do.

2.    PARETO PRINCIPLE

This principle say that from 20 % input we get 80 % Result. It means if there are crimes in country that crimes would not did by all the people of the country. Another means if there is a group that work in a project, in that group all are not working only 20% people work. This technique is very useful.

How to use Pareto Principle in Practical life?

For exam preparation use this Principle as, Find the pattern of precious year questions and find what is mostly common. And if the teacher teach you 50 topics it is not rare that all the topics will come in exam, first read all the topic rapidly but mostly cover that have chances to come in exam and lastly if you are regular to school read your notes carefully, and if you are not regular to school for some reasons read the notes of Topper or a boy who are regular to school.

3.    SPACED REPETATION (POMODORO)

Pomodoro

This technique is known as Pomodoro technique in which we have to read for 25 or 50 Minutes and after studying we have to take a short break likely for 5-10 Minutes.

How to use Pomodoro Technique in Practical life?

You can easily use this technique in your daily life and it is very helpful.

Set a time that I have to study for 25 Minutes and after studying for 25 Minutes, take a short time break for 5 or 10 Minutes. Your brain easily understand this gives you full potential to work because it know that I get break after reading for some time.

4.    PARKINSON’S LAW

Parkinson's Law

Have you ever notice that, if we get homework from the school and have 1 week for that homework, we complete that homework in last day of the week. Here Parkinson’s Law say that set deadline for your work.

How to use Parkinson’s law in Practical life?

If you have a time for your work like 1 week, fit in your mind that I have only three days, to complete this project or Homework. After this mindset that I have only 3 days, you act like, I have only 3 days you complete your homework in less days.

5.    ACTIVE RECALL

Active Recall

Active recall means, remember things than revision. Yes, according to the book “Learning How to Learn” the author say that Recalling is better than Revising.

Example: Suppose that you read about “How Internet Works?” and create notes, after sometime you most of the things forget instantly because that information is saved in short term memory. After this if you start revising that concept from the Notes, it is rare that you not forget that concept for long time. Instead of revising, if you stand in the front of the mirror or start recalling you have learn that things or concept for long time.

How to use this Technique in Practical life?

If you know that I have complete this concept start recalling instead of revising because revising gives you instant information but recalling takes time to remember what you are read in that concept but it is stored in memory for long time.

By reading “The Power of Now” Book written by your 100% distractions will end, if read this book and implement in your Practical life.
