The Narendra Singh kapani was famous Indian-American physicist and inventor who is real father of fiber optic cable. His discovery helped to create modern Internet, medical tools like endoscope, and high speed data communication telephone system his life a great example of how curiosity, hardwork, and passion of science can change the world. But we are go to search on Google who is the father of fiber optic cable? The name showed on the Google “Charles Quinn kao” but it is not true because Charles Quinn kao was caming very late in the field of fiber optic cable but he get awarded by nobel prize.
THE EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION:-
Narendra Singh kapani was born in 31 October 1926 in moga the city of Punjab in india. He raised in beautiful town of dehradun, where he spent his childhood. As a young boy, he was very curious and loved learning about things worked even in science in school, he was interested in science and wanted to find new ways to solve problems.
THE CHILDHOOD STORY OF NARENDRA SINGH KAPANI:
The Narendra Singh start his invention in childhood because in one day his teacher taught him in science in lecture his teacher learning about light and he told that LIGHT travel straight, Now Dr Kapani asked an interesting question through his teacher. WHY IS THAT DO YOU KNOW? The teacher told him to answering of small kids genuine question and he arrogantly humiliated (means insalted) of Narendra in the front of all student and then made fun of him and said and in fun and insult like told can you bend light and then he laughed and told seat down.
WHEN HE START HIS JOURNEY TO INVENT FIBER OPTIC IN ENGLAND :
He studied on Agra university in India where he earned degree in science them for a few years he got a job at Indian ordinance factory services in IOFS located in Dehradun and by the way we are talking about just a few years before India’s independence when it was believed that this IOFS make countless optical instrument . So he think he work on it he take to came a lot of knowledge about Light and I will get near on my next step in the direction of my ultimate goal the step in which, he had to go England to higher studies, but while doing this he had observed an important thing he believed that India is being diverted and we need a strong military of our own for our country, but how will a military strong if they can’t communicate with each each other quickly? So can I use for communication technology? or not. This will be useful for the military and my original goal of providing the bending of light will also be fulfilled.
And during this time, he saw that time only England was the country where at least two facilities required to make the Indian military top-notch. First, manufacturing capabilities to make high-tech instrument so that ideas can be put into reality and Second, tools related to communication technology so that the rough ideas of communication with light can come out of there heads. Now I know you will think that why only England? In. 19th century England made telegraph for communication and after that, in just a few years, but for how long? So, according to Germany, Enigma massage were encrypted or locked in such a way that to unlock it, a key or simply a perfect combination of settings if the entire population of a country like India sits together to decode then it will take about 1000 years.
It was so powerful. Do you know what this means? This machine in whose hand, the war in his hand. And this was true at least until someone had Bombay in their hands. Because Bombay was the first artificial intelligent computer in the world which was invented by an English British engineer ALAN TURNING in a clash with Enigma . This computer was basically so powerful that it could decode Enigma, coded message in just 20 minutes. So now you understand why Dr. Kapani chose England because all the next level inventions were happening in England .
DR.KAPANI MEET WITH HIS COLLEGUE AND BRITISH SCIENTIEST HARROLD HOPKINS :
He wanted to take his master’s degree from the master’s of the communication tech. And that’s why as soon as India became independent, in 1947 , Dr kapani went to England to take his last step towards his goal in the prestigious imperrial collage of London. Because this was the same collage where two things happened with Dr Kapani.
First he got a chance to make fibre optic cable and Second, he got cheated by his own colleague, Actually, Dr.Kapani met British scientist and inventor Harold Hopkins in England who was famous for his theory of aberration in those days. Now, for those who don’t know what is aberration, just understand this aberration is phenomenon in which an image made with the help of lenses and mirrors becomes disorted rather than clear and sharp.
Now, this was a big problem because Dr kapani saw that to see internal organs, the endoscope made with rod lens used in England also gave low image quality due to the same reason. And plus, due to not being flexible, it didn’t even fit inside the body without any effort. So, to solve this problem of endoscope, Dr kapani got a revolutionary idea and he merged Harold Hopkins theory with endoscope and made today’s present day OPTIC FIBER.
There is so much problem in one light ray , THEN HOW WILL IT SEND MULTIPLE RAYS? And this is where Dr.Kapani made an amazing thing. Look, in your 12 Megapixel camera, 12 million tiny RGB sensors captures the colour details of the entire scenery. Now, in this, suppose if all the RGB sensors of your camera were combined in a signal big RGB sensor, then you would see image like this.
But because there are so many RGB sensor in your camera, that image looks like this first and then like this. Simply put, more sensor means higher resolution. And that’s it, Dr.Kapani used the same logic in optic fiber. Instead of a thick cable, he took a lot of glass fiber like hair and made a bundle of them, which gave him flexibility as well as higher resolution. The only difference was that as soon as the resolution of optical fibers increased,
DISPUTE BETWEEN DR. KAPANI AND HOPKINS :
there was a dispute between Dr .kapani and Hopkins as to who would take the CREDIT but in his Fight the third person(Charles Queenn Kao) take credit.
Actually in 1952, Dr.kapani and Hopkins did all this under a joint research and at the same time, fibre optic brought this term in front of the world. But then as soon as they got the praise , on one site , hopkins started arguing that Dr kapani contribution in research was very less, the theory was all mine, but on the other hand, Dr kapani said that Hopkins theory wouldn’t understood by anyone if I hadn’t practically made it into an optical fiber. And in this fight, both took their own paths, both slowed down, and along with it , the third person Charles Quen Kao won the Nobel prize.
Actually, what happened was that after completing his studies, in 1955, Dr.kapani started working as a professor at Rochester university of U.S and and eventually, he started a company called optic technology. But during this time , his challengers, Charles quen kao, was doing his PHD from London university and research on them.
CHARLES QUEN KAO READ THE ARTICLE OF NARENDRA SINGH KAPANI AND INVENT HIS OWN FIBER OPTIC CABLE AND TAKE NOBEL PRIZE
Kao first read Dr.kapani’s work in detail and then he published his own research paper.
At the years after paper published in Dr.kapani’s 1952. In this paper , he basically said that the impurities of glass fiber , like iron, copper , chromate, and hydronium ion absorb light to a certain extent. If these impurities are removed, the data can be transferred at a fast speed of thousand of Kilometer. That is a best technology that could transfer data at the speed of light. It was now ready. Thanks to me and act new Jerseys electric engineer, David Payne, and emanuel D. Sirwire, made electric circuit or optoelectronic circuit based on this technology , which will become the circuit with which we will run the high-speed internet today. But if you look at all of kao’s work was based on Dr.kapani’s work. Only a few minute additional were made to it.
And still the royal of science gave the Nobel prize to kao. And you know the total work and experience of our country man Mr kapani he is discover the fibre optic and published 100 scientific papers.
But today’s no more people know him even in India maximum people not know him, In our school studied about those people who ruled in India but studied about our famous Indian scientist our real hero THE NERENDRA SINGH KAPANI.
I HOPE THIS STORY FEELS YOU PROUD SO PLEASE SHARE THIS AMAZING STORY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY “GOOD BYE MEET YOU NEXT TIME WITH NEXT TIPIC”
